It’s important to get children vaccinated to keep them safe from potentially deadly diseases. But as always, when in doubt, review the issues with the pediatrician based on the medical history.”

— Dr. William Matzner, California (Healthcare Analytics, LLC)

SIMI VALLEY, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, January 23, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Presumably all parents want to keep their children safe. That includes the necessary medical care and vaccinations. However, there are controversial and contradictory opinions and information about vaccinations for children. Dr. William Matzner, MD, based in Simi Valley, California, provides his thoughts on this issue. The complete article is available on the Blog of Dr. Matzner at https://drwilliammatzner.blogspot.com

Let us start with the basics: What Is a Vaccine?

By now, you probably understand why people are vaccinated. Let’s talk about vaccines in layman terms. A vaccine is a product that is given to children, as well as adults, to protect them from infectious diseases. There are various types of vaccines and every year, developments are made to counteract the effects of new diseases discovered. The chemical components in a vaccine stimulate antibodies production and provide immunity against various disease processes.

Now here’s the truly fascinating part: the vaccine works due to the causative agent present in the disease, which is used as a synthetic substitute. The antigen induces an immune response in the body without injecting the disease.

So here are the Top 5 Reasons to Get Your Child Vaccinated (and remember that when you are unsure, the child’s pediatrician, based on the available medical history, probably knows best):

1.Get Your Child Vaccinated (usually within first 12 Months) to protect against some diseases

The first vaccination is usually given to a child within first 12 months (this may differ depending on the particular case, again consult the pediatrician). The basic MMR vaccine is given first, and it protects infants from rubella, measles, and mumps. Another important vaccine that should be given within 2 months is IPC, which protects newborn babies from polio.

There are in total 10 vaccines, with varying doses that should be given to children. They amount to 24 doses and extend from the time of birth to 6 years. You can check out the schedules and recommended doses at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or check with the pediatrician.

2. Vaccines Provide a Shield Against Serious Illnesses

If your child does not get vaccinated at the right time, his or her immune system becomes vulnerable to attacks. When you travel with your children abroad, not only are they at risk but they also put other children at risk.

Some of the vaccine-preventable diseases are:
* Diphtheria
* Hepatitis A
* Haemophilus influenza type b (Caused by bacterial meningitis)
* Hepatitis B
* Influenza
* Human Papillomavirus (Caused by of cervical cancer)
* Measles
* Mumps
* Meningococcal
* Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
* Polio
* Pneumococcal (Causes blood infections and bacterial meningitis)
* Rotavirus
* Tetanus (Lockjaw)
* Rubella (German measles)
* Varicella (Chickenpox)

All of these diseases can lead to serious complications such as amputation of leg or arm, paralysis of limbs, brain damage, convulsions, and even death.

3. Vaccines Protect Your Child’s Future

Children are exposed to germs on a daily basis. Following are some of the places where your child is likely to come into contact with dangerous bacteria:

* Preschool or daycare
* School
* College
* University
* Doctor’s waiting room
* Community center
* Events and concerts
* Summer camp
* An airplane or a bus

These germs spread through crowded places and by the time you notice the symptoms starting to appear, it’s too late.

4. Vaccines Are Generally Safe

Side effects of vaccines are rarely seen. With so many improvements in vaccines over the years, the side effects are now limited to low fever or numbness in leg or arm.

5. Vaccines Save You from Expensive Medical Bills

As mentioned earlier, getting your child vaccinated protects your future and allows you to create savings for their future. From $9 to more than $200, vaccines have been priced according to the spread of diseases. CDC recently updated its vaccine price list at https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/programs/vfc/awardees/vaccine-management/price-list/index.html, which you can refer to, to find out how much your insurance will cover. Remember: get your children vaccinated as their future is at stake here.

We chose to follow the group of African sculptures and masks with a superb collection of jazz recordings. The auction ends with money, and some of the most desirable coins of the twentieth century.”

— Serena Harragin

CLEVELAND, OHIO, UNITED STATES, January 23, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — A mid-week auction featuring an exciting decorative collection of African sculptures and masks, followed by a single-owner collection of jazz recordings, and finishing with an impressive collection of 19th & 20th Century American coins will be held Wednesday, February 20th, at 10 am Eastern time by Gray’s Auctioneers, online and live in Gray’s gallery.

The full catalog is up and pre-bidding is open at GraysAuctioneers.com. Bidding is also available on Liveauctioneers.com and Invaluable.com. Phone and absentee bids will also be accepted. In-person previews will be held Thursday thru Wednesday, Feb. 14-20, from 10-5; and Saturday, February 16th, from noon-4 pm. Gray’s gallery, for previews and auction, is at 10717 Detroit Avenue in Cleveland.

“This auction is an eclectic grouping of subjects,” commented Serena Harragin of Gray’s Auctioneers. “However, it is well documented that the arts of Africa were a major influence on the art and music made in the United States and Europe in the early 20th century. So, we chose to follow the group of African sculptures and masks (lots 1-78) with a superb collection of jazz recordings” (lots 79-406).

Ms. Harragin continued, “The art of Africa was discovered by those wealthy travelers of the early 20th century who brought back African treasures. So, too, was it the wealthy elites of the jazz age whose embrace of jazz brought it to the masses. Thus, the auction ends with money, and some of the most desirable coins of the twentieth century.” (lots 407-529). Many of the coin lots are in multiples.
The auction provides a rare opportunity for collectors to break into the three main categories, or add to their existing collections, at very attractive price points. The bidding on many lots starts at under $100.

African artifacts with estimates of $80-$120, for example, include a Luba tribe (Democratic Republic of Congo) carved and painted wood moon mask with almond-shaped eyes, 17 ½ inches tall; a pair of Ivory Coast carved and painted wood Guro masks – a scorpion and an antelope, 25 ¼ inches tall; and a Senufo tribe (Ivory Coast) brass Kpelie initiation mask, 11 ½ inches tall. All are from the 20th century.

A handful of African lots have slightly higher estimates. These include a 20th century Salampasu tribe (Zaire) carved wood and copper ceremonial mask with a fiber ball coiffeur and plaited fiber and ball beard (est. $150-$250); and a pair of 20th century Nyamezi (Central Tanzania) carved wood figures – a male and a female, with inset beaded eyes – together on a metal stand, 68 inches tall (est. $100-$200).

Other lots with $100-$200 pre-sale estimates will include a 20th century Yoruba tribe (Nigeria) carved wood Ibeji female figure, 11 ¼ inches tall; a 20th century Benin brass figure of a seated female, 15 ½ inches tall; and a 20th century carved wood and metal Bamana Ntomo (Mali) mask, 18 inches in height.

The jazz recordings are from the single-owner collection of James Seidelle, who passed away in July last year. Mr. Seidelle was one of the inventors of the flight simulator, which teaches pilots how to fly. He was also a talented jazz drummer, a skillful photographer and a lifelong collector. Over 80 years he amassed a superb toy collection (sold by Gray’s in Dec. 2014), and a cherished jazz records collection. His musical instruments and a rare Slingerland drum set will be offered in Gray’s March 2019 auction.

Just a few highlights from Mr. Seidelle’s vast collection of jazz recordings will include a group of four Miles Davis vinyl LPs from various labels, being sold as one lot; a group of four Benny Goodman 10- inch shellac 78 album sets from Columbia Records; an autographed Woody Herman 10-inch shellac 78 album, signed by Herman, along with eleven Herman 10-inch shellac 78s; a Bunk Johnson red 10-inch vinyl LP from American Music Records; and a Billy Bauer vinyl LP from Norgran Records (all 20th c.).

Also sold will be Volumes I, II and III of The Complete Commodore Jazz Recordings, published by Commodore Music Shop (Mosaic MR32-123), being offered as three separate lots (each lot est. $100-$200); a group of ten Billie Holliday vinyl LPs from various labels; and a sealed Hank Jones Quartet-Quintet vinyl LP from Savoy Records. All above lots (except the Commodore set) are est. $80-$120.

The 19th and 20th century American coins will be led by a group of four partial sets of Morgan silver half dollars from 1878-1921, including 70 coins of unknown mints (est. $3,000-$3,200); a group of 73 pre-1921 Morgan silver dollars of various mints, circulated and uncirculated (est. $1,800-$2,000); and a 1924 St. Gaudens gold coin in circulated condition (est. $1,500-$1,700).

Also up for bid will be a group of six gold coins from Mexico, all from the 20th century in circulated condition, including 50, 20, 10, 2, 2.5 and 5 Peso coins of various dates and unknown mints (est. $3,600-$3,800); a group of four 1986 gold American Eagle coins, circulated (est. $3,000-$3,200); and a group of four 1910 and 1914 gold type coins, circulated, and of unknown mints (est. $3,000-$3,200).

BitMinutes Announces Partnership with BODC Limited in Nigeria that Will Bring Jobs and Reduce Poverty in that Country

BitMinutes Inc., a blockchain technology company and producer of the first prepaid cell phone minute token, has announced the launch of BitMinutes Nigeria.

BitMinutes is making it easy to send prepaid minutes to people with different phone carriers and to different countries.”

— Tom Meredith

ROSWELL, GEORGIA, US, January 23, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — BitMinutes Inc., a blockchain technology company and producer of the first prepaid cell phone minute token (BMT token), announced today the formal launch of the BitMinutes Nigeria program, a partnership with Nigeria-based BODC Trading & Investment Co. that observers believe could create thousands of jobs and relieve poverty.
The program calls for the creation of a Trusted Agent Network (TAN) in which the BitMinutes Nigeria team will lead an effort to identify and oversee agents, who are often store merchants. TAN agents can help citizens unlock unused cell phone minutes, converting them into BitMinutes. In the future, BitMinutes can be used as collateral for microloans, which local citizens can use to start their own businesses.
“This could have a tremendous economic impact on the country by creating new revenues for the agents, while providing citizens with a way to fund their own businesses,” said Tom Meredith, the founder and CEO of BitMinutes. “BitMinutes is making it easy to send prepaid minutes to people with different phone carriers and to different countries. They are also making it free to send BitMinutes, which can be converted directly into fiat currency inside a bank account.”
Ravi Narain, the Director of the BitMinutes Nigeria program, agrees with Meredith.
“We’ve been looking for a way to unlock the vast entrepreneurial potential of everyday community members,” said Narain. “By combining BitMinutes’ blockchain technology with our local knowledge, we are on the precipice of making a real difference in our economy and the lives of our people.”
The economic plight of so many communities in Africa has been on Meredith’s mind for years and was a driver in the creation of the BitMinutes technology. Others have reached a similar conclusion about the role that blockchain technology could play – https://thenextweb.com/contributors/2018/04/11/cryptocurrencies-solution-africas-payments-challenges/
But the technology has only been one piece of the equation. BitMinutes needed a business model to deliver on that promise, which is where the Trusted Agent Network (TAN) comes in.
In fact, Inc. Magazine wrote last spring about how BitMinutes’ model could be a boost for small businesses that participate in the Trusted Agent Network – https://www.inc.com/darren-heitner/new-cryptocurrency-startup-wants-to-grow-new-businesses-by-tapping-unused-cell-phone-minutes.html
Nigeria will serve as a proof point for BitMinutes, before the company advances the business model across the continent and in other impoverished areas of the world.
“This has been a long time coming,” said Meredith, who has an engineering degree from Stanford and an MBA from Harvard. “Blockchain can bring a lot of good to the world. We are determined to show that in Nigeria.”
About BitMinutes Technology
BitMinutes technology harnesses the decentralized power of the blockchain by leveraging the digital ledger behind user data for making purchases, transferring money, generating loans and using airtime minutes. Selling and lending BitMinutes-based micro-loans will create a business opportunity for entrepreneurs globally. BitMinutes will turn the corner retailer into the corner banker, delivering banking services to the smallest of villages and towns worldwide. And doing it profitably.
About BitMinutes, the Company
BitMinutes is a startup fintech company, founded in the U.S., with its European subsidiary established in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. Its token, the BitMinute, is a universal prepaid airtime minute; the prepaid minute is a real asset already traded informally globally by billions of mobile phone owners. BitMinutes’ tokens allow peer-to-peer cash transactions to over 2 billion bank accounts in 70 countries and prepaid top-up to over 4 billion mobile accounts in over 200 countries. Even more importantly, BitMinutes facilitates the expansion of micro-credit and nano-credit lending in communities where lending is rare and too expensive for most individual borrowers. BitMinutes’ ownership and transactional records will establish a new type of consumer credit score for emerging market consumers who currently struggle with limited access to capital and a lack of traditional banking services.

Kehoe Law Firm, P.C. Investigating Potential Class-Action Claims on Behalf of Purchasers of Dual-Ended Combat Arms™ Earplugs (CAEv2).

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, UNITED STATES, January 23, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Kehoe Law Firm, P.C. is investigating class-action claims on behalf of purchasers of the now-discontinued Dual-Ended Combat Arms™ Earplugs (CAEv2).

In July 2018, the Department of Justice announced that 3M “. . . agreed to pay $9.1 million to resolve allegations that it knowingly sold the dual-ended Combat Arms Earplugs, Version 2 (CAEv2) to the United States military without disclosing defects that hampered the effectiveness of the hearing protection device.”

The Department of Justice announced that "[t]he settlement . . . resolves allegations that 3M violated the False Claims Act by selling or causing to be sold defective earplugs to the Defense Logistics Agency. Specifically, the United States alleged that 3M, and its predecessor, Aearo Technologies, Inc., knew the CAEv2 was too short for proper insertion into users’ ears and that the earplugs could loosen imperceptibly and therefore did not perform well for certain individuals. The United States further alleged that 3M did not disclose this design defect to the military."

Further, the Department of Justice announced that "[t]he allegations resolved by the settlement were brought in a lawsuit filed under the qui tam, or whistleblower, provisions of the False Claims Act. The act permits private parties to sue on behalf of the government when they believe that defendants submitted false claims for government funds and to share in any recovery. As part of [the] resolution, the whistleblower will receive $1,911,000."

Transobturator Transvaginal Mesh Slings: Scars Remain on the Pudendal Nerve

Dr. Greg Vigna

The transobturator sling by its design places the pudendal nerve in peril while the retropubic sling does not.

What is clear is the transobturator sling by its design causes pudendal neuralgia, CRPS-2, and obturator neuralgia and the retropubic sling does not.”

— Dr. Greg Vigna

SANTA BARBARA, CA, UNITED STATES, January 23, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Transobturator Transvaginal Mesh Slings: Scars Remain on the Pudendal Nerve

Plastic polypropylene transvaginal mesh (TVM) devices used for the surgical management of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in women are of two different designs – the transobturator sling (TOT or TVT-O) and the retropubic sling (TVT). The transobturator sling passes through the obturator space, while the retropublic sling hammocks the urethra and exits up and out behind the pubic bone.

Most mesh “slings” are made from polypropylene plastic, even though there is no evidence that a polypropylene sling offers any benefit in cure rates when compared to non-polypropylene mesh surgical repairs for SUI such as a fascia harvested from the patient’s own body or the Burch procedure that involves tightening up the soft tissues that are damaged in child birth that leads to SUI.

Additionally, there is no evidence that cure rates are different when comparing the transobturator sling placement to the retropubic sling placement.

Transobturator slings unfortunately cause pudendal neuralgia and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Type 2, and these diagnoses are much less likely to occur with a retropubic sling. These diagnoses are life changing catastrophic pain syndromes that causes vaginal pain what makes sexual intercourse impossible, pelvic pain that reduces mobility to a sedentary level, and bowel and bladder dysfunction that include inability to evacuate the bowels with severe anorectal pain and urinary retention.

The transobturator sling by its design places the pudendal nerve in peril while the retropubic sling does not. Even a properly placed transobturator sling has the potential to cause direct damage by way of compression from scar tissue from ongoing inflammation produced by the body attacking the plastic device in something called chronic foreign body reaction (FBR). Another possible cause of damage is the indirect irritation or damage to the pudendal nerve by way of traction to the nerve by muscle spasm or scar tissue pulling at the nerve.

Dr. Greg Vigna, a national pharmaceutical injury attorney, practicing physician, and pudendal neuralgia expert, in preparation of specific causation reports for his clients inside the Multidistrict Litigation in West Virginia with urogynecologist experts are noting intraoperative surgical findings of scar tissue compressing the pudendal nerve caused by the transobturator sling at the time of transgluteal decompression of the pudendal nerve.

A diagnosis of pudendal neuralgia requires an individual assessment using an MRI as a diagnostic tool to determine pudendal nerve entrapment. A properly performed CT guided pudendal nerve block may provide some temporary relief of pain resulting from an entrapped nerve. These patients may improve from decompression if symptoms warrant aggressive surgical management.

Dr. Greg Vigna, whose focus is on catastrophic pelvic injury, states, “What is clear is the transobturator sling by its design causes pudendal neuralgia, CRPS-2, and obturator neuralgia and the retropubic sling does not. This is one basis of the design defect in this litigation against manufacturers of the various transobturator slings along with the polypropylene plastic design that causes FBR. There is a warning defect in that patients are simply not warned of the unique risk of injuries to the pudendal nerve or obturator nerve that is associated with the transobturator sling when compared to the retropubic sling.” He goes on to say, “Not only are these diagnoses caused by the older transobturator slings but occur in the smaller single incision mini-slings that implant into the obturator membrane and obturator internus.”

The first bid-to-buy auction site dedicated to timepiece aficionados, HauteBid.com – Auctioning the Berlin Wall Watch

HauteBid.com – Auctioning the “Holy Grail” of limited edition watches, The Fall of the Berlin Wall Watch (#0000 of 1989 watches made)… History on your Wrist

NEW YORK, NY, USA, January 23, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Take a walk back in history … "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" — US President Ronald Reagan, at the Brandenburg Gate on June 12, 1987. A scant two years later Reagan's challenge to the leader of the Soviet Union would be met. Not by President Mikhail Gorbachev, but by the people of East and West Germany. With hammers, chisels and even their bare hands, a people who had been separated for 28 years started to dismantle the barrier that stood between them for a generation. November 9th 1989. It is one of those moments that separates history in half … the world before and the world after. One of those indelible crossroads that define us.

The Fall of the Berlin Wall Watch will be auctioned at HauteBid.com on January xx, 2019.

As Tim Temple, founder of TalkAboutWatches.com says,…

“I am honored to have been involved in the creation of this watch since the earliest stages. I was first invited by the designer, and can attest to being on location in Berlin with the team doing research for the design. The dial is based on art found on the actual wall, with the building material chosen per what was used in the Brandenberg Gate. This piece was constructed by watch guys for watch guys so from a horological perspective, the comfort and balance are there – as is the custom packaging, choice of movement, and limited-edition exclusivity. In my view, the finished work is underpriced, especially in the initial offering.”

This special watch comes in a collectible case with two extra straps and a booklet outlining the journey in creating this unique watch. There are actual pieces of the Berlin Wall in the sealed crown!

Creator Craig Hester adds that this limited edition watch is #0000 out of a run of 1989 pieces, which signifies that it is a pre-production model, making it even more unique to the collector along with its accompanying booklet. It is impossible to calculate the value of this exclusive timepiece and it offers the collector a one-of-a-kind insight into a definitive era, with fastidious attention to historic and architectural detail.

Marvin Segel, HauteBid founder says, “One thing for sure, this is one to add to your collection!”

To participate in this HauteBid auction, customers sign up and purchase one of three bid packages, each with a different value. Once the auction timer begins, customers have up to 14 seconds to use their bids before the timer goes to 0. When the timer ends, the final bidder can purchase the watch for the final auction price. The final auction price starts at $0.00 and increases by $.01 for every bid placed. Each bid returns the countdown timer to its original position, giving every customer an equal chance to take home a statement timepiece.

The Age of Perfect Vegan Lattes Has Arrived.

NEW YORK, NY, USA, January 22, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — In an ideal world the environment is clean, politics are civil, and lattes have luxurious animal-free foam. UrbanVegan.com is working to that day and has introduced its first curated collection of cruelty free milk substitutes that will make the most demanding barista smile.

In addition to the traditional line of milk substitutes including silky almond, unsweetened coconut, milked cashews, long life soy, and organic oats the Urban Vegan online shopping mall is also introducing Milkadamia brand Latte da Barista. Said one bearded coffee making aficionado, “my customers are smart, urban, and quite discerning when it comes to their coffee. They are also very concerned with cruelty free living and expect their milk substitute to provide a rich, foamy experience without a false and heavy texture.”

Curators at the online Urban Vegan Shopping Mall spend hours researching each product to ensure that it adheres to the highest vegan standard of non-animal, cruelty free production. The new milk substitute collection is just the latest addition to the already vast collection of vegan shopping items ranging from apparel, footwear, and accessories to home, health, and books.

Nomad Management Loses Three Key Rulings Against Industry Model Group in Trade Secrets Lawsuit

Lawsuit: Former Industry vice president took confidential information for Nomad

It is clear that Bernardi only took the position at Industry to obtain trade secrets, confidential information, employees and resources for his own venture…”

— Attorney Robert Tauler

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, USA, January 22, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has ruled that a lawsuit will proceed against the co-founder and director of Nomad Model Management LA and former employees of Industry Model Group for misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract and unfair competition, and that countersuits against Industry will be dismissed, in a series of rulings handed down against Nomad Model Management.

In the first ruling, Judge Maureen Duffy-Lewis denied a Motion for Summary Judgment brought by Nomad Management and former employees ruling there was sufficient evidence against the defendants, who the lawsuit accuses of conspiring to raid Industry computer files and download proprietary information before leaving to start Nomad Los Angeles with fashion model Coco Rocha. In denying Nomad’s Motion for Summary Judgment, Duffy-Lewis on Jan. 11wrote that “Defendants have failed to meet their burden to show that the plaintiff failed to produce any evidence. To the contrary, defendants present such evidence in their moving papers…”

In a second ruling dismissing the countersuit, the Court ruled that Industry’s prohibition of the defendants from entering the premises of Pier 59 Studios, a premiere commercial photography studio affiliated with Industry, was protected activity that could not form the basis of a countersuit. Nomad and the Coco Rocha Company were ordered to pay $7,377.50 in attorney’s fees under California’s Anti-SLAPP law.

At oral argument, Robert Tauler, of Los Angeles-based Tauler Smith LLP, argued that allowing the countersuit to proceed would be akin to forcing Industry to allow “a fox into the hen-house.”

In the third ruling, Judge Duffy-Lewis ruled against the defendants’ attempt to have the lawsuit dismissed against former Industry Vice-President Giovanni Bernardi on grounds that it should have been filed in New York, ordering that the case would proceed as to Bernardi in California.

Federico Pignatelli, President of Industry Model Group and Pier 59 Studios, commented “I am pleased with the court’s rulings. Industry will always enforce its rights and protect its property no matter the circumstance.”

According to court documents, Bernardi signed confidentiality agreements when Industry hired him in March 2017 as executive vice president of business development. Bernardi resigned in September 2017 and formed Nomad immediately afterwards. Following his departure, a review of Bernardi’s computer revealed that numerous files of proprietary information had been downloaded on the eve of his resignation, according to the lawsuit, filed in May 2018 in Los Angeles Superior Court. The confidential information included spreadsheets of model earnings, client sales, sales projections and client and company contact lists for both Industry Model Group and Pier 59 Studios.

“It is clear that Bernardi only took the position at Industry to obtain trade secrets, confidential information, employees and resources for his own venture,” Tauler wrote in the lawsuit. Court papers argued that co-defendants conspired to join Bernardi at Nomad “to advance their interests at the expense of Industry” and that the co-defendants were “in constructive possession” of the trade secrets due to the overlap in their respective roles at Bernardi’s new venture.

Tauler Smith LLP specializes in high-stakes commercial litigation in a variety of areas, including unfair competition, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, general business disputes and false advertising.
