Model Rhian Sugden launches all natural self tan Clarity, in light of her own IVF struggles

Clarity self tan – product shot

Rhian Sugden creates a natural self tan for product conscious consumers, using minimal ingredients while still achieving maximum results

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM , May 31, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Rhian Sugden has spent lockdown topping up her tan, with a brand new product she helped develop after suffering from fertility problems. 18 months ago, Rhian embarked on a mission. After discovering that she wouldn’t be able to conceive naturally, she and her actor husband, Oliver Mellor, went through two exhausting rounds of IVF treatment.

Throughout the process, experts recommended she stopped using all cosmetic products that contain harsh chemicals or additives, which is when she decided to cut out all of the nonsense and went completely tan-free for over 12 months.

Rhian even hired an alternative therapies specialist and became much more conscious of her product choices, ditching her go-to brands in favour of more natural alternatives. In light of her fertility struggles, she wanted to create a more natural self tan, using minimal ingredients while still achieving maximum results.

As consumers, it’s down to us to be cautious when it comes to the types of products we use and what ingredients are inside them. Countless beauty products contain unnecessarily harsh chemicals, parabens, colourants and a bunch of other nasties, that simply put, really aren’t that good for us and can be known to cause adverse health effects.

Produced with the kindest formulation possible, Rhian has teamed up with award-winning tanning brand Rose & Caramel to launch Clarity. Free from unnecessary additives and harsh chemicals, Clarity is made using all vegan-friendly ingredients, as well as natural caramel colouring – and contains absolutely no harsh chemicals, parabens, colourants or other nasties!

With a streak free formula that is hydrating and kind to skin, they have taken out all of the bad, while leaving in all of the good, so that you can achieve a flawless self tan at home, without having to worry about what’s inside. Now that you’ve got some Clarity in your life, why settle for anything less.

Rhian said: “Oliver and I have spent the past 18 months having IVF treatment and learnt so much about how the body works. I want to give myself the best possible chance of having a baby, so I took a long, hard look at all of the cosmetic products I was using and decided to cut out all of the nonsense. Lots of beauty products contain a bunch of additives that just aren't needed, so it really can’t be good to regularly put them onto your skin.

“After meeting the founder of Rose & Caramel at an event, I approached them and we started to develop a more stripped back, natural tanning solution. But while this project stemmed from my fertility issues, Clarity is the ideal self tan for anybody who is conscious of the types of products they are using and takes more care of their wellbeing – it uses minimal ingredients while still achieving maximum results.

“It also means so much to me that Fertility Network UK are Clarity’s official charity partner, with £1 from every bottle sold being donated directly to them.”

Rose & Caramel founder, Rosie Greenhalgh, said: “When Rhian told us about her fertility struggles and how she had cut out a lot of her usual products, it made perfect sense for us to partner together and create a more natural self tan for product conscious consumers.

“All of Clarity’s ingredients are vegan friendly, we’ve used natural caramel colouring and cut out all harsh ingredients. We’ve stripped our formula back – but without compromising on the quality of the tan.”

£1 from every bottle sold is being donated directly to Clarity’s charity partner, Fertility Network UK – which is the UK’s leading fertility and IVF charity who provide support, advice and guidance to people faced with fertility issues.

Clarity costs £23.99GBP per bottle and is available for online pre-order now with 25% discount and will be available nationwide from 15th June. www.roseandcaramel.co.uk/product/clarity

Dashing, Daring and Debonair

Herbie J Pilato chronicles classic TV's top male and female icons in twin books: Glamour, Gidgets and the Girl Next Door, and Dashing, Daring and Debonair

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, May 31, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — The darling Donna Douglas who with both gusto and grace played Elly May Clampett, the diamond in the rough on "The Beverly Hillbillies"…The barrier-and race-breaking performance of the distinguished Diahann Carroll as "Julia" in the same-named, first-African-American-led sitcom in TV history…The smart and sassy magic of Barbara Eden on "I Dream of Jeannie"…Lynda Carter ("Wonder Woman")…Dawn Wells ("Gilligan’s Island")…Farrah Fawcett ("Charlie’s Angels")…Suzanne Somers ("Three’s Company")…Sally Field ("Gidget"/"The Flying Nun"), Lindsay Wagner ("The Bionic Woman"), Maureen McCormick ("The Brady Bunch"), Julie Newmar ("Batman")…each of them and more are probed, prodded and paid tribute to GLAMOUR, GIDGETS, AND THE GIRL NEXT DOOR: TELEVISION’S ICONIC WOMEN OF THE ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s, which is filled with insightful, entertaining and revealing biographies.

As the author of female-geared classic television biographies like Mary: The Mary Tyler Moore Story, and Twitch Upon A Star: The Bewitched Life and Career of Elizabeth Montgomery, with the GIDGETS book, Herbie J Pilato chronicles as many charismatic women who have made their ‘beauty-mark’ in television. Pilato celebrates their contributions beyond aesthetic appeal and more to honor the intelligence, individual wit, and unique talent and style that each of them have contributed to television — and how that great medium in particular was utilized to introduce and showcase so many amazing and wonderful women to the world.

For exclusive and key information on TV’s top leading ladies who shattered expectations and paved the way for successive generations, GLAMOUR, GIDGETS, AND THE GIRL NEXT DOOR is the number one resource and go-to guide.

Conversely, and as a companion to the GIDGETS tome, Pilato penned DASHING, DARING, AND DEBONAIR: TV’S TOP MALE ICONS FROM THE ’50s, ’60s AND ’70s.

With a Foreword by Adam West ("Batman"), and Joel Eisenberg ("The Chronicles of Ara"), DASHING, DARING, AND DEBONAIR discusses the lives and careers of classic television’s legendary personalities from in-front-of and behind-the-camera including: Ed Asner ("The Mary Tyler Moore Show"), Tony Dow ("Leave it to Beaver"), Norman Lear ("All in the Family"), Andy Griffith ("The Andy Griffith Show"), Stanley Livingston ("My Three Sons"), David Carradine and Radames Pera ("Kung Fu"), Larry Hagman ("I Dream of Jeannie"/"Dallas"), Paul Peterson ('The Donna Reed Show"), David Cassidy ("The Partridge Family"), Barry Williams ("The Brady Bunch"), John Schneider and Tom Wopat ("The Dukes of Hazzard"), Dick Van Dyke ("The Dick Van Dyke Show"), Robert Wagner ("It Takes a Thief"), Erik Estrada and Larry Wilcox ("CHiPs"), Leonard Nimoy, Gene Roddenberry and William Shatner ("Star Trek"), and more.

Be they actors, comedians, singers, dancers, talk show hosts or series creators or producers, they each ignited their own particular brand of appeal and, in the process, inspired their audience to cheer them on — whatever their guise. This book explores and celebrates the men who left an indelible impression on generations.

In either case, any fan or follower of classic television or pop-culture history will find much to enjoy in GLAMOUR, GIDGETS, AND THE GIRL NEXT DOOR, and DASHING, DARING, AND DEBONAIR.

“Why is it so many books written about the entertainment industry aren’t entertaining? Not so with Herbie J Pilato’s Glamour, Gidgets and the Girl Next Door. He’s clearly in love with the business and the actresses in it and it’s a fun read to zip through. This isn’t one of those tell-all books, revealing private secrets that should’ve stayed untold — this is a positive, fact-filled celebration of the women he writes about.”

– Treva Silverman, Emmy Award winning story editor of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "That Girl"

———————

“Herbie J Pilato’s own personal panache shines like a diamond stickpin in Dashing, Daring and Debonair — a perfectly fund and extremely addictive read.”

Animal Wellness Action Celebrates China’s New Policy Banning the Dog Meat Trade

Dog Meat

Animal Wellness Brands Logo

Policy Action Triggered by the Inescapable Conclusion Most People Treat Dogs as Companions, Growing Public Health & Reputational Concerns, & the COVID-19 Crisis

The dog meat trade in China and other nations has triggered investigations, protest, and outrage even within nations where this industry operates.”

— Wayne Pacelle, President of Animal Wellness Action

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, UNITED STATES, May 30, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — In what can only be described as one of the biggest contemporary gains for animals globally, China has removed dogs from its National Catalogue of Livestock and Poultry, clearing the way for the shutdown of dog meat sales, including dog meat festivals such as the infamous one conducted in Yulin. Dogs in China have long been raised and collected by the millions annually and butchered for human consumption, and this new policy is a prescription for ending the entire trade. Only a minority of Chinese consume dog meat, and the younger generation by and large steers clear of it.

The proposed national policy was elucidated in April, just months after the COVID-19 crisis started in Wuhan. “With the progress of human civilization and the public’s concern and preference for animal protection, dogs have been ‘specialized’ from traditional domestic animals to companion animals,” wrote a spokesperson from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in April in the original expression of the proposed policy change.”

“The dog meat trade in China and other nations has triggered investigations, protest, and outrage even within nations where this industry operates,” noted Wayne Pacelle, President of Animal Wellness Action. “As pet keeping continued to rise and became the dominant form of interacting with dogs, the dog meat industry was a contradictory behavior that could endure for long. The COVID-19 was a catalyst for the evolution in social thinking about dogs.

Animals Asia, which has been on the ground in China fighting for animals for over 30 years, sent this dispatch to Animal Wellness Action: “Although the legislation is not an outright ban on consumption, the regulation bans the selling of live dogs and dog meat for food. This means all the dog restaurants, markets and slaughterhouses countrywide selling dogs for food are now illegal, sending a message to the industry that dog meat consumption is not supported by the government. The protection also extends to cats.”

The decision follows actions earlier this year by the cities of Shenzhen and Zhuhai to ban the eating of dogs and cats. It also comes more than a year after the United States banned the trade domestically, partly as a signal of moral leadership sent to China. AWA helped lead the fight to pass that law in Congress.

“We expect this decision to end the horrific treatment of millions of dogs who are terrorized, slaughtered, and skinned as part of the meat trade in China each year,” said Jennifer Skiff, Director of International Programs for Animal Wellness Action. “But be assured, the battle is far from over. The ability to enforce is always an issue once a law is created – and that’s not China specific. Still, this action is far-reaching and those who follow the law will walk away from the trade and their action will create monumental change.”

Skiff, who last year spoke to animal advocates in Beijing about the trade and the global movement to end it, said, “Today is a day to rejoice for the good people of China who have been desperate to see this change. Sadly, investigative reports by Animals Asia have shown that the majority of dogs in the trade are stolen companion animals. This is just the beginning of the end of the trade.”

“The COVID-19 crisis exposed live animal markets as barbaric and as serious threats to public health, and the government of China acted responsibility by ordering its closure,” said Odessa Gunn, Northern California Director for Animal Wellness Action and an investigator who been to dozens of dog meat markets in China and told the story of the callous and horrifying treatment of the animals. “It’s a celebratory moment for the people of China and for people throughout the world and with the possible shutdown of live wildlife sales for food, it heralds a new era in the treatment of animals in China.”

Dogs are still farmed in South Korea and eaten in other Southeast Asian countries. It’s hoped China’s decision will be followed by its neighbors, whose authorities sanction the farming and tolerate theft of pets and collection of animals for the trade. The stories of those dogs, along with the photos of them stuffed into wire cages, and on trucks heading to China have fueled the global movement that can claim part of this week’s decision by China to stop the sale of dogs for food.

Animal Wellness Action ushered to passage the Dog and Cat Meat Trade Prohibition Act that was signed into law in December 2018 forbidding the dog and cat meat trade in the United States.

The Animal Wellness Foundation (Foundation) is a Los Angeles-based private charitable organization with a mission of helping animals by making veterinary care available to everyone with a pet, regardless of economic ability. We organize rescue efforts and medical services for dogs and cats in need and help homeless pets find a loving caregiver. We are advocates for getting veterinarians to the front lines of the animal welfare movement; promoting responsible pet ownership; and vaccinating animals against infectious diseases such as distemper. We also support policies that prevent animal cruelty and that alleviate suffering. We believe helping animals helps us all.

Animal Wellness Action (Action) is a Washington, D.C.-based 501(c)(4) organization with a mission of helping animals by promoting legal standards forbidding cruelty. We champion causes that alleviate the suffering of companion animals, farm animals, and wildlife. We advocate for policies to stop dogfighting and cockfighting and other forms of malicious cruelty and to confront factory farming and other systemic forms of animal exploitation. To prevent cruelty, we promote enacting good public policies and we work to enforce those policies. To enact good laws, we must elect good lawmakers, and that’s why we remind voters which candidates care about our issues and which ones don’t. We believe helping animals helps us all.

DENVER, PENNSYLVANIA, USA, May 29, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — A circa 1765-1770 Revolutionary War presentation pipe tomahawk made by future army general Richard Butler and inscribed to Lieutenant John McClellan of the Pennsylvania Riflemen was sold on May 27 by Morphy Auctions in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania for a staggering $664,200, inclusive of buyer’s premium. It is a world-record auction price for any tomahawk.

“Because of its historical importance and incomparable line of previous ownership, there was great interest in the tomahawk in the days leading up to the auction. We knew ahead of time that a couple of serious players would be competing for it,” said Morphy Auctions founder and president Dan Morphy. “There were six phone lines in use when the bidding opened at $240,000. It quickly escalated and was sold to an American buyer.”

Arguably the most important and best-known American tomahawk in existence, it was featured in the 2005 "Clash of Empires: The British, French & Indian War, 1754-1763" an exhibition of French and Indian War items commemorating the 250th anniversary of the conflict. Exhibition stops included the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, the Canadian War Museum/Museum of Civilization in Ottawa, and The Smithsonian in Washington, DC.

Displaying extremely fine workmanship, the silver-mounted and inlaid tomahawk was hand-forged and signed by Richard Butler, a respected armorer at Fort Pitt (Pa.) from 1765-1770. Butler's daybook, which is held in Carnegie Library, gives a record of his time at Fort Pitt and lists the many pipe tomahawks he made.

Born in Dublin, Ireland in 1743, Butler moved with his family to Lancaster, Pa., at age five. Around 1760, the Butlers relocated to the nearby developing settlement of Carlisle, where his father worked as a gunsmith. The younger Butler apprenticed under his father at the gun shop, which still stands near the city’s Court Square.

In 1772, following his time at Fort Pitt, Butler was commissioned a captain in the Pennsylvania Militia. Over time, he gained the trust of Native Americans in the region and, in partnership with his brother, conducted fur trading with the tribes and also provided gunsmithing services. In 1775, Butler left the Pennsylvania Militia and became an agent of Indian Affairs for the region. He strengthened relations with the Shawnee and Delaware Indians, signing a Treaty of Neutrality with them. In 1776 he was commissioned a major in the Continental Army's 8th Pennsylvania Regiment. He fought with the riflemen at Saratoga and commanded the 9th Pennsylvania Regiment at Stony Point. Subsequently, he served as colonel of the 5th Pennsylvania regiment at Yorktown, and afterward remained in the Continental Army. In 1783 he was given an honorary promotion to brigadier general. He was one of five brothers who all served in the military and were known collectively as “the fighting Butlers.” Richard Butler was killed in 1791 at the Battle on the Miami River in Ohio.

Lieutenant John McClellan, the original owner of the beautifully inlaid, silver-mounted tomahawk sold by Morphy’s, was from the outskirts of Carlisle. He served with Company D of Thompson’s Battalion, Pennsylvania Riflemen, and carried the tomahawk with him to war. “Riflemen were required to carry tomahawks as secondary weapons, as their longrifles were not equipped for bayonets,” Dan Morphy explained.

The tomahawk’s extensive line of provenance includes The Earl of Warwick (Warwick Castle, England), who loaned the tomahawk for display at The Tower of London; and other distinguished private collections in the US and UK. It is depicted on the cover of Indian Tomahawks & Frontiersman Belt Axes and appears in several other respected reference books.

Commenting on the $2 million auction session and the success of the Butler/McClellan tomahawk, Dan Morphy said: “We’re extremely happy with the results of yesterday’s auction, which shows that the market is stronger than ever. It’s always exciting when a rare piece of history crosses the auction block, especially one that has passed through so many important hands and has been so well documented.”

On day two of Morphy’s three-day auction event, featuring Extraordinary, Sporting, and Collector Firearms, Morphy's auctioned Annie Oakley's (1860-1926) custom-made "Little Miss Sure Shot" Stevens Model 44 .25-20 single-shot rifle, engraved with the name “ANNIE OAKLEY,” for $528,900.
